What Will You Do with Jesus? Part II

What Will You Do with Jesus?

Part II

“Pilate said to them, “What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” (Matthew 27:22).

Everyone when they read and learn about Jesus must make the decision as to what they will do with Jesus? Will you follow Him, just as he asked of those in the 1st century or will you deny Him or fail to acknowledge His authority and love.

If I believe Him to be the Son of God and His teachings be the truth, then it should be easy for me to confess Him. Peer pressure and the way others may view me can at times allow us to remain silent. But please remember what Jesus says in Matthew 10:32 “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him will I also confess before my Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.” Remaining silent is a loophole wither. Keeping quite can carry the same judgment. Paul tells the Romans  that “with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:10). The only time we confess shouldn’t be when we are baptized. We should be confessing Him every minute of every day. Don’t allow others to influence you to not confess Him, they will be able to stand with you at the day of judgement. And what a blessing it is to be able to say that the Son will confess me to the Father because I was bold enough and loved Him enough to confess Him. Will you confess Him this day?

Do you love the Savior? Do you truly love in that you will follow Him and follow His teachings? “If you love Me, keep My commandments.” (John 14:15). If we truly love Him then doing what He asks will come naturally. We will want to seek His guidance and live as He would ask and command. If I love Him then there is nothing that I wouldn’t do for Him, nothing I wouldn’t give up for Him. I wouldn’t try and twist things so that they match what I want. I will conform to image that He would have me to be. Will you love Him this day?

Are you willing to follow Him? Jeus said in John 14:15 that “For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.” He gave the example in hopes that we would follow it completely, not just the parts that we are ok with it, but the entire example. Jesus is the good shepherd, and we are His sheep, and we need to be as sheep and follow Him. He asks nothing of us that He didn’t do, endure, and overcome. When He called those who were to be His Apostles, we read that He simply said Follow Me. Will you follow Him this day?

If you follow Him then you must also obey Him. If He truly is Lord over you, then you must be willing to obey Him. To be your Savior, you must obey Him and follow His commandments. Christ learned obedience to the Father through the things that He suffered. And He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him. (Hebrews 5:8-9). There is no other salvation. In order to receive the eternal salvation that we so desperately need and want, we must obey Him. Will you obey Him this day?

Make no mistake that Jesus will return one day. “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned.” (2nd Peter 3:10). Are you looking for Him? Are you doing your part to ensure that you as you are looking for Him that you are following His example? Are you looking for Him to teach you daily, to ensure that you are following Him correctly and as He directed? Are you help guide other to look for Him and to bring all that we can to Him? Are you looking for Jesus this day?
