What Will You Do with Jesus? Part I

What Will You Do With Jesus?

Part I

“Pilate said to them, “What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” (Matthew 27:22).

Everyone when they read and learn about Jesus must make the decision as to what they will do with Jesus? Will you follow Him, just as he asked of those in the 1st century or will you deny Him or fail to acknowledge His authority and love.

In Matthew 17 we read of Jesus being transfigured on the Mount in front of Peter, James and John. As the witnessed this awesome event they were overshadowed by a bright cloud and the voice of God, the Father, was heard saying, “ This is My beloved Son, in whom I well pleased. Hear Hiim!”  God gave the direction for them to hear the words that Jesus would teaching and saying. Letting us know that what Jesus was speaking was to be heard and followed. It let us know that we need to hear everything that He has to say, not just what we want to hear,  but the entirety of His words. It also proves Jesus’ statement to be true that He has been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Will you hear Him and follow what He says?

Will you look to Him when times are not only good, but difficult. The Hebrew writer tells us to “look unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:2). It is not always easy to be a Christian and it wasn’t for Jesus, yet He maintained His faithfulness to the Father and never wavered and thus is seated at the right hand of God. He is author and finisher of our faith, and it is Him that we should look to in our times of need and doubt. When things get tough are you going to look unto Him?

Every first day of the week we have the opportunity to gather together and break bread in remembrance of Him. Every time we partake of the Lord’s Supper it is a reminder of what Jesus did and accomplished while here on earth. We get to remember that it is through Him that we have forgiveness of sin and to be reconciled to the Father. We remember His body which is broken for us. We remember His shed blood of the new covenant. (1st Corinthians 11:24-25). This is a memorial that He established to ensure that we were focused on things that truly matter. Please don’t let the only time you remember Him to be this. We should constantly be remembering Him because without Him, there is no forgiveness of sin. We should remember Him when we make decisions, when we are happy, sad, and every emotion in between. If we want to pattern our lives after Him, we must remember Him. Will you remember Him this day?

Will you preach Him? Will you do as Paul charged Timothy in 2nd Timothy 4:2 and preach the Word in season and out of season. If we truly love out neighbor then we don’t want to see them end up in eternal damnation and to ensure that we must preach them Jesus. And not shortchange them but truly be honest with them. The truth can and will hurt at times, but Jesus said  I am the way, the truth, and the life, and the only for one to fully embrace this is for us to preach Jesus and His cleansing to them. Jesus gave the great commission to go out make disciples of every nation, the only way to do that is to preach Him. Will you preach Jesus this day?

Will you believe Jesus? Jesus said in John 8:24 “Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”  The most quoted passage of the New Testament is probably John 3:16 and Jesus says that if we believe in Him that we can everlasting life. We must believe that He truly was the Son of God and more than a prophet and righteous man. He was God in the flesh, and it is only through Him that salvation can be attained. Will you believe that He is the Son of God this day?
