God: The Only Creator
After God had created the heavens and the earth, He created man. He reaches down and from the dust of the ground, He breathed life into the first man. Man has tried over and over again to create things from scratch, only to fail. Ecclesiastes 1:9-10 “That which has been is what will be, That which is done is what will be done, And there this nothing new under the sun. Is there anything of which it may be said, “See, this is new”? It has already been in ancient times before us.” The writer, assumed to be king Solomon, tells us here that there we will continue to fail at this endeavor because God has already created it. We allow our arrogance and pride to lead us to believe that we can do that which only God can.
Imagine scientists going to God and saying we have found a way to create man out of the dirt just like you can. God hearing the foolishness of man reaches down, breathes into the nostrils and just like in Genesis 2:7 man became a living being or soul. The scientists clap and say well done God but now let us show you that we can do the same now. Reaching down to the dirt, God stops the scientist and asks what are you doing? The scientist respond grabbing from the ground as you did to create a new living being. God politely stops then and tells that they need to get their own dirt.
Man’s foolishness or arrogance allowed him to forget that God created dirt and dust and everything that we can see or touch. He created the universe, without any help from man. Thus, we can conclude that we can’t create anything new, He has already created it. We may be able to take things and put them together, but they already were made or created. Paul writes in Romans 11:36 “ For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.”
Don’t allow your arrogance or pride to get in the way of giving all the glory to the One who created it all. He made us in His image, not the other way around. Be thankful He allowed us to see the beauty of all He has created and give all the glory to Him.
